Highly floriferous, and with a low-growing habit, Aubrietia is the perfect alpine for carpeting gardens with an abundance of pretty blooms. Tolerating drier growing conditions, Aubrietia works well in rockeries, gravel gardens, borders, raised beds, and even grows in crevices. ‘Rose Red’ sports fragrant, four-petalled flowers, that will enhance your garden during spring and summer.
To maintain your Aubretia’s compact shape, you should cut back after it has finished flowering. Sometimes Aubrietia can develop a shape where they cease flowering in the centre, resulting in ground cover that is empty in the middle. However, this is no cause for concern; just give it a hard prune back to restore it to its desired shape.
